M6
Coupe in the Snow -
In March 2015, we had a snow storm and Olga decided to stay home for the
day... So I took the opportunity to drive the M6 in the snow, just
to see if it would handle it okay, and headed for work. Even though I could have simply changed my shift and worked from home. |

As you can see it was definitely a slippery ride in, but I drove slowly (for me) and had few issues on the way in.

Until the sun same out and started to melt the snow and ice...at that point I couldn't even get through this parking lot. Fortunately a good Samaritan gave me a hand (tow) to the main road and I was back on my way. I decided I'd never make it up the hill to work and elected to turn around and head for home.

Too bad I didn't make that decision about 30 minutes earlier, when I hit the highway the road condition was terrible...I was on the side of the highway, unable to go forward, or backwards, until the snow melted enough to get some traction... I have to give credit to the Arkansas State Police...had a patrolman check on me twice, but I had to decline his offer to use his vehicle's push-bar to get me started as I realized I wouldn't make it far. But since I wasn't posing a hazard to anyone, I was just going to wait it out some...I was there over 2.5 hours!
As the other pictures showed, once freed from the snow trap, I was still able to get decent traction and made it home in one piece, where others did not.
Lesson learned? Yep, do NOT drive the M6 in the snow! |
